Festive cookies bursting with cinnamon and orange flavors - perfect for the holiday season!
Ingredients:
  • 2 1/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons grated orange peel
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
Instructions:
  • Combine flour, orange peel, 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl; set aside. In a large bowl, cream butter with an electric mixer until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating until smooth. Then slowly blend in the flour mixture on low speed until fully incorporated.
  • Divide the dough in half and shape each half into a round. Roll out each round between sheets of waxed paper to 1/4-inch thickness. Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a cookie sheet and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper. Unwrap dough, cut into 2-inch squares, and place them 1 inch apart on the prepared sheets. Reroll any scraps for more squares.
  • Combine granulated sugar with a hint of cinnamon in a small bowl, then generously sprinkle over the cookies.
  • Bake until edges turn golden, about 12 to 14 minutes. Allow to cool for 1 minute, then transfer from baking sheets to cooling racks. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature once cooled.
