Quick and easy homemade granola recipe that's tender, crispy, and customizable with your favorite ingredients like dried fruits, nuts, and toasted coconut. Adjust cooking time for desired crunchiness. Use butter for richer flavor or oil for a lighter taste similar to store-bought granola.
Ingredients:
  • 1.25 tablespoons olive oil
  • 5 cups rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.33333334326744 cup butter
  • 0.25 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 0.5 cup packed brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup blanched slivered almonds
  • 0.5 cup dried cherries
Instructions:
  • In a large stockpot over medium heat, warm the olive oil. Mix oats and cinnamon, then add to the pot. Stir constantly and cook until lightly toasted, about 3 to 4 minutes. Transfer oats to a large baking sheet and melt butter in the pot. Add honey, molasses, and brown sugar to the melted butter. Once the mixture simmers, return oats to the pot and stir until well coated and heated through.
  • Once off the heat, fold in the almonds and cherries. Spread the mixture onto a large cookie sheet to cool and set. The granola will become crunchy as it cools. Once cooled, transfer to an airtight container and store at room temperature.
