Whip up tasty Bisquick® walnut and currant pinwheels for a quick 40-minute breakfast!
Ingredients:
  • 2 1/4 cups Original Bisquick™ mix
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup dried currants
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine, melted
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 400°F and prepare a cookie sheet with parchment paper. In a medium bowl, combine Bisquick mix and 1/2 cup milk until a soft dough forms. Transfer dough to a surface dusted with Bisquick mix, coat it with more mix, and knead 5 times.
  • 1. Flatten the dough into an 11x8-inch rectangle shape, then evenly spread 1 tablespoon of softened butter on top. In a small bowl, combine granulated sugar, cinnamon, walnuts, and currants, and sprinkle this mixture over the dough. Gently press the mixture into the dough. Roll up the dough tightly starting from the longer side, then seal the edge. Cut the rolled dough into 3/4-inch slices and place them on a cookie sheet. Finally, brush the slices with 1 tablespoon of melted butter.
  • Bake until golden brown, then transfer to a cooling rack and let cool for 10 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, combine glaze ingredients and gradually add milk, 1 teaspoon at a time, until the glaze reaches drizzling consistency. Drizzle over warm pinwheels and serve them warm.
