Classic Contadina Spaghetti Sauce

Delectable Contadina pasta sauce made with robust tomatoes and savory Italian sausage – perfect for pasta or as a pizza topping!
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound Italian sausage (casings removed), or extra lean ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 (28 ounce) can CONTADINA® Crushed Tomatoes
  • 1 (15 ounce) can CONTADINA® Tomato Sauce
  • 1 cup chopped fresh mushrooms
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried basil
  • 0.5 teaspoon sugar
Instructions:
  • Brown the sausage, onion, and garlic in a large skillet over medium-high heat until the sausage is crumbly and browned, and the onion is translucent, for about 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Combine crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, mushrooms, oregano, basil, salt, and sugar in a pot and bring to a boil. Simmer on low, uncovered, for 30 minutes.
