Try these delicious collard cream cheese wontons for a crowd-pleasing blend of Southern and Asian flavors.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons grape seed oil
  • 3 green onions, chopped, white and green parts
  • ½ red bell pepper, chopped
  • ½ orange bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 bunch collard greens, rinsed and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh garlic
  • 1 tablespoons collard greens seasoning
  • 1 package cream cheese, softened
  • 1-2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1 package wonton wrappers
  • vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
  • In a wok over medium heat, sauté green onions, red bell pepper, and orange bell pepper in grapeseed oil for 5 minutes. Stir in collard greens, garlic, and greens seasoning, cooking until greens are wilted, approximately 10 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
  • Blend the cream cheese and sour cream in a large bowl until velvety smooth. Gradually fold in the greens until fully incorporated.
  • Add a generous amount of greens mixture to the center of a wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges of the wrapper by lightly running a water-dipped finger along them. Fold the wonton into a triangle shape, pressing firmly to seal. Repeat with the rest of the wrappers and greens.
  • Preheat oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 350°F (175°C). Fry wontons in small batches until they turn golden and crispy, which should take about 2 to 3 minutes. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to drain.
