Beginner-friendly recipe that's always a hit with everyone!
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 0.5 cup light brown sugar
  • 0.125 cup sifted all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 0.25 cup margarine
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Combine the white sugar, brown sugar, flour, and salt in a saucepan. Pour in the milk and add the margarine. Heat while stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves and the margarine melts. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  • Whisk together egg yolk, egg, and vanilla in a large bowl until smooth. Blend in the cooled sugar mixture, then pour the mixture into the pie crust.
  • Bake in the preheated oven at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 25 minutes, then lower the temperature to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C) and bake for another 25 minutes until the top is puffed and edges are golden brown. Let it cool before slicing.
