Whip up Grandma's savory consommé pork chops with just pork chops, rice, onion, and beef consommé.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour, or more as needed
  • 6 pork chops
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup uncooked long grain white rice
  • 1 cup beef consomme
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a shallow dish, spread out the flour. Season both sides of the pork chops with salt and pepper, then gently press them into the flour for a light coating.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, sear pork chops in hot oil until beautifully golden on both sides for approximately 3 minutes each. Place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  • Combine rice, consommé, and water in a large baking dish. Layer onion slices over the rice and top with pork chops.
  • Cook in the oven until the rice is tender and the pork is slightly pink in the center, which should take around 1 1/2 hours. Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure the center reaches at least 145°F (63°C).
