Homemade juicy burger topped with melted cheese, fresh fixings, and crispy fries - a taste of your favorite chain restaurant at home!
Ingredients:
  • 2 medium russet potatoes
  • 8 cups peanut oil for frying
  • 14 ounces ground chuck
  • 4 thick slices American cheese
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (such as Frank's Red Hot ®)
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 2 medium sesame seed burger buns
  • 0.5 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 2 thick slices tomato
  • 2 tablespoons diced onion
  • 1 tablespoon pickle slices
  • 2 teaspoons mustard
  • 2 teaspoons ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
Instructions:
  • Slice the potatoes into 1/2-inch wide strips and soak them in warm water in a large bowl for 20 minutes.
  • In a Dutch oven, heat oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Place a wire rack on top of a lined, rimmed baking sheet.
  • Thoroughly dry the drained potatoes with paper towels. Cook 1/2 of the dried potatoes in hot oil, stirring often until slightly softened, about 3 minutes. Drain on a wire rack and repeat with the rest. Keep oil at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for the final frying before serving.
  • Separate ground chuck into 4 sections and shape into 1/4-inch thick patties.
  • Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add burger patties and cook without moving until a golden crust forms, about 2 to 3 minutes. Flip, gently press with a spatula to flatten, and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Flip again, press gently, add a slice of cheese on top of each patty, and cook for 1 more minute.
  • Once the burgers are cooking, dress the bottom halves of the buns with mustard and ketchup. Sprinkle hot sauce on the top halves of the buns, then swipe mayonnaise on top. Pile on lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, and onions to complete the layers.
  • Sandwich the cheese sides of each patty together. Then place each stacked patty on a top bun, cover with a bottom bun, condiment-side down, and wrap in foil.
  • Re-fry the fries until they turn golden brown, which should take approximately 3 to 4 minutes. Once done, drain them on paper towels, sprinkle with salt, and serve alongside burgers right away.
