Ingredients:
  • 1 pound thick sliced bacon
  • 1.5 cups half-and-half cream
  • 2 cups flour
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.25 pinch white sugar
  • 2 cups vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
  • Halve the bacon strips and arrange them in a star pattern in a shallow dish with the half-and-half. Let the bacon soak for at least 30 minutes, but no longer than 2 hours to prevent curling, tenderize, and enhance the flavor.
  • Combine flour, salt, pepper, and sugar in a shallow dish; set aside. Dredge bacon in the flour mixture, ensuring each piece is coated. Optionally separate with wax paper, though the flour prevents sticking.
  • In a deep skillet over medium-low heat, gently warm the vegetable oil. Cook the bacon in batches until golden and as crispy as you like, for about 2 to 3 minutes. Place on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
