Indulge in delicious cranberry bars with frosting and walnuts - a sweet fruit treat.
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 1/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 package (10 oz) frozen cranberry-orange sauce, thawed
  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 package (3 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • About 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and generously coat a 15x10x1-inch baking pan with cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, whip together granulated sugar, 3/4 cup butter, 2 teaspoons vanilla, and eggs using an electric mixer at medium speed until well blended, scraping the sides of the bowl as needed. Add flour, baking soda, and salt and mix on low speed until fully incorporated. Fold in cranberry-orange sauce, then pour mixture into a pan.
  • Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the edges are a beautiful golden brown. Let it cool completely in the pan on a wire rack for about 30 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, mix 1/3 cup butter, cream cheese, and 1 teaspoon vanilla on medium speed for 1 to 2 minutes until well combined. Gradually add powdered sugar and milk until spreadable. Frost the bars, sprinkle with walnuts, and cut into 8 by 6 rows before chilling in the refrigerator.
