Indulge in decadent cheese-filled chocolate brownies, sure to wow your guests!
Ingredients:
  • 2 packages (8 oz each) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 4 oz unsweetened baking chocolate
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour*
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped nuts
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F and generously grease a 13x9-inch pan with shortening.
  • In a medium bowl, use an electric mixer on medium speed to mix all filling ingredients until smooth; set aside.
  • In a 1-quart saucepan, gently melt the butter and chocolate together over low heat, stirring regularly. Take the pan off the heat and allow it to cool for 5 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat together the chocolate mixture, sugar, vanilla, and eggs for about 1 minute until well combined. Add in the flour and salt and mix on low speed for 30 seconds, then increase to medium speed for another minute. Fold in the nuts and spread 1 3/4 cups of the batter in the pan. Layer the filling over the batter and then dollop the remaining batter over the filling, spreading gently to cover.
  • Bake for 45 to 50 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack for about 2 hours. Cut the brownies into 8 rows by 6 rows and store them covered in the refrigerator.
