Creamy asparagus on toast: Quick, cozy comfort food for all ages.
Ingredients:
  • 2 pounds fresh asparagus, trimmed
  • 5 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 slices bread, toasted
Instructions:
  • In a large pot or skillet, immerse asparagus in water and bring to a boil. Simmer over medium-low heat until tender, for about 8 to 10 minutes. Drain the asparagus.
  • In a pot over medium-low heat, combine 3 tablespoons of butter and flour until the mixture is smooth, about 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in milk, asparagus, and salt, then simmer until thickened, around 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Spread a generous teaspoon of butter on each slice of toast and smother them with the creamy asparagus sauce.
