Innovative cornmeal doughnut holes, crunchy yet tender, coated in irresistible cinnamon sugar or enjoyed plain. Deliciously unique treat!
Ingredients:
  • peanut or corn oil for frying
  • 0.75 cup self-rising flour
  • 0.5 cup self-rising cornmeal mix
  • 0.25 cup sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1 egg
  • 0.5 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 0.5 cup sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oil in the deep-fryer to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Combine the flour, cornmeal mix, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and buttermilk. Gently fold the egg mixture into the dry ingredients until slightly lumpy. Avoid overmixing.
  • Drop batter by rounded teaspoonful into hot oil. Fry until golden brown. Drain on paper towel-lined plate. Option to roll in cinnamon sugar or enjoy plain.
