Elevate your meal with a deconstructed Spam musubi bowl featuring savory Spam, fluffy rice, and crispy seaweed for a gourmet experience without the need for a musubi maker.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 0.25 cup lite soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup oyster sauce
  • 2 (12 ounce) cans low-sodium canned luncheon meat (such as SPAM®), cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 2.5 cups water
  • 2 cups medium-grain white rice (such as Calrose)
  • 6 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 (1.2 ounce) package roasted and seasoned seaweed, torn into 1 1/2-inch pieces
Instructions:
  • Combine the sugar, soy sauce, and oyster sauce in a large resealable bag. Add the Spam, seal the bag, and massage gently to ensure the Spam is evenly coated. Let it marinate for a minimum of 1 hour.
  • 1. Boil water, add rice, then simmer until tender and liquid is absorbed, about 15 minutes. Stir in vinegar.
  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add Spam and marinade, and cook until Spam is browned and marinade is absorbed, stirring frequently, for about 5 minutes while the rice finishes cooking.
  • Combine rice and seaweed in a bowl, then mix in the luncheon meat until well combined.
