Crispy hot wings tossed in spicy sauce for a delicious appetizer.
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups peanut oil for frying, or as needed
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 2 (5 ounce) bottles hot pepper sauce (such as Frank's RedHot®), divided
  • 3 large eggs
  • 0.33333334326744 cup water
  • 2.5 pounds chicken wings and drummettes
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder, or to taste
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 0.5 cup butter
Instructions:
  • Preheat oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a large bowl lined with paper towels.
  • In a bowl, combine one bottle of hot sauce with eggs and water, whisk until smooth. In a separate bowl, place the flour.
  • Season the chicken with a flavorful blend of garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Dip each piece into the spicy hot sauce mixture, allowing any excess liquid to drip back into the bowl. Coat the chicken in flour on both sides and then transfer onto a plate. Repeat this process with the rest of the chicken pieces.
  • In batches, fry chicken in sizzling oil until the meat is cooked through and the skin is crispy and golden, approximately 5 minutes. Place on paper towels to drain, then sprinkle with a little more salt to taste.
  • In a saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the leftover hot sauce and butter. Stir until the butter is melted and the mixture is smooth.
  • Discard paper towels from the bowl and generously drizzle the luscious butter sauce over the succulent chicken; mix until evenly coated.
