Loaded Denver Omelet: Ham, veggies, Cheddar cheese perfection in every bite.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, divided
  • 1/3 cup diced ham
  • 1/4 cup finely diced yellow onion
  • 1/8 cup finely diced red bell pepper
  • 1/8 cup finely diced green bell pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt, for seasoning bell peppers and ham
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt, for seasoning eggs
  • 1 teaspoon room temperature water
  • 1/3 cup shredded white cheddar cheese
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Hot sauce, for serving (optional)
Instructions:
  • Make the filling: Heat a 10-inch nonstick skillet over medium heat. Melt 1/2 tablespoon of butter in the skillet, ensuring it coats the bottom. Add ham, onions, and bell peppers, then sprinkle with 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt. Cook until vegetables soften slightly and ham edges start to brown, about 3 to 4 minutes. Transfer the filling to a clean plate and keep aside.
  • Combine eggs, 1/4 tsp salt, and water in a large measuring cup or bowl. Whisk until mixture is frothy and well combined.
  • Prepare the skillet by wiping it with a clean paper towel and heating it over medium heat. Add 1/2 tablespoon of butter, swirling to coat the skillet. Once the butter foams, pour in the eggs and reduce the heat to medium-low. Let the eggs cook without stirring for one minute.
  • Gently lift and swirl the partially-set eggs in the skillet to spread the uncooked egg for even cooking. Once a thin layer forms on top after 3 to 4 minutes, sprinkle cheese evenly over the eggs, then cover with a lid.
  • After the cheese has melted, spread the filling on one side of the omelet. Gently fold the other side over the filling using a rubber spatula. Take the skillet off the heat and let the omelet sit for 1 minute before serving.
  • To serve the Denver omelet, elegantly transfer the folded omelet onto a plate. Add a touch of freshly ground black pepper, and enjoy promptly with your preferred breakfast accompaniments. Optionally, pair with hot sauce for an extra kick. If you enjoyed this dish, kindly share your feedback below!
