Indulge in a juicy double-decker beef burger bursting with cheese and flavor.
Ingredients:
  • 4 brown onions, sliced
  • 20.00 gm caster sugar
  • 20.00 ml balsamic vinegar
  • 150g provolone cheese
  • olive oil cooking spray
  • 4 wholegrain bread rolls, halved
  • 125.00 gm tomato chutney or relish
  • 2 iceberg lettuce leaves, shredded
  • oven-baked fries, to serve
  • 84.98 gm milk
  • 2 slices white bread, crusts removed
  • 500g beef mince
  • 24.40 gm worcestershire sauce
  • 23.40 gm dijon mustard
  • 2 tsp thyme leaves, chopped
  • 62.50 ml flat-leaf parsley leaves, chopped
Instructions:
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, mix together oil and onions. Microwave covered on HIGH for 5 minutes until tender. Stir in sugar and vinegar, then set aside.
  • Combine milk, bread, beef, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, thyme, and parsley in a large bowl. Mix thoroughly and then divide the mixture into 4 equal portions to form beef patties.
  • Cut cheese into 8 cubes, each 2cm in size. Grate the rest of the cheese and keep it aside. Press 2 cheese cubes into the center of each beef portion, shaping them into 2cm-thick patties. Place the patties on a plate, cover, and refrigerate for 20 minutes.
  • Heat up the barbecue plate over medium-high heat. Lightly spray the patties with oil. Start by cooking the onions for 6 minutes, then the patties for 5 minutes on each side until golden. Lastly, grill the bread rolls for 2 minutes until toasted.
  • Cover bread roll bases with flavorful chutney, layer with crisp lettuce, juicy patties, savory grated cheese, and zesty onions. Close with bread tops and hold together with a toothpick. Enjoy with crispy fries on the side.
