Savory brown gravy with Worcestershire, ketchup, garlic, and mustard. Perfect drizzled on mashed potatoes or biscuits.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 quart cold beef broth
  • 0.25 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan over medium-low heat, melt butter until golden-brown and smells like cooked pie crust, about 5 minutes. Stir in flour until well combined.
  • Sauté garlic for 30 seconds. Slowly whisk in 1 cup of broth until silky, then add the rest of the broth, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard. Let it simmer, whisking occasionally, then lower the heat. Cook until thickened, around 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
