  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 0.5 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 2.5 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 (29 ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 4 teaspoons finely chopped jalapeno chile peppers
  • 1 (16 ounce) can chili beans, undrained
  • salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
  • In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, sauté ground beef, onion, and bell pepper until beef is browned, approximately 5 minutes. Remember to drain excess fat.
  • Enhance with chili powder, garlic, cumin, and bay leaf for a burst of flavors. Mix in tomatoes, tomato sauce, and jalapeños to create a zesty base.
  • Simply bring to a boil, then lower the heat. Cover and let it simmer for 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  • Gently fold in beans until heated. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
