Simplify your chili making process with this flavorful and comforting recipe. A quick sauté followed by adding stewed tomatoes, beans, and seasonings creates a hearty dish. Ingredients:
  • 1 lb ground beef round
  • 1 1/4 cups chopped onions
  • 1 1/4 cups chopped green bell peppers
  • 6 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 cans (14.5 oz each) no-salt-added stewed tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can (15 oz) Progresso™ dark red kidney beans, drained, rinsed
  • 1 can (8 oz) no-salt-added tomato sauce
  • 1 package (1 oz) onion soup mix (from 2-oz box)
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons red pepper sauce
  • 6 tablespoons shredded reduced-fat sharp Cheddar cheese
Instructions:
  • Prepare a 4-quart Dutch oven with a quick spray of cooking oil and heat it over medium-high. Cook beef, onions, green peppers, and garlic for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beef is fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  • Combine the tomatoes, beans, tomato sauce, onion soup mix, water, chili powder, paprika, and pepper sauce in a pot. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve each portion with a sprinkling of 1 tablespoon of cheese on top.
