Collard greens cooked with bacon, garlic, and onion for a flavorful and tender side dish loved by all.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (1 pound) package washed and chopped collard greens
  • 4 bacon slices, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • 5 cups water, or as needed
Instructions:
  • In a stockpot, mix together collard greens, bacon, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, sugar, and cayenne pepper. Add enough water to cover the greens. Bring to a boil, then simmer on low heat until greens are tender, approximately 2 hours.
