Quick and easy German apple sheet cake, great for feeding a crowd with customizable portion sizes.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 14 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • lemon, zested and juiced
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 3.25 pounds apples - peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons raisins
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) and generously grease a large 12x18-inch rimmed baking sheet with 1 tablespoon of butter.
  • In a large bowl, mix together 14 tablespoons of butter and sugar until smooth and creamy using an electric mixer.
  • Combine flour, baking powder, lemon zest, and salt in a bowl. Alternate adding the flour mixture and eggs to the creamed butter mixture. Spread the sticky dough onto the prepared baking sheet using a spatula. Evenly arrange sliced apples on top and drizzle with lemon juice. Sprinkle with raisins over the apples.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes until golden brown and fully set.
