Creamy white sauce lasagna - a crowd-pleaser without ricotta, and simple to make at home!
Ingredients:
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 cups warm milk
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 2 (28 ounce) jars spaghetti sauce
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg, or to taste
  • 1 (16 ounce) package no-boil lasagna noodles
  • 1 (8 ounce) package shredded Mexican cheese blend
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 0.5 cup water
Instructions:
  • In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter. Stir in flour, salt, and pepper until the flour is dissolved. Gradually whisk in milk until a thick white sauce forms, about 2 to 4 minutes. Remove from heat.
  • Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the beef until crumbled, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain any excess grease. Stir in spaghetti sauce and nutmeg, and heat through for about 5 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Start with a generous layer of meat sauce in a 9x13-inch baking dish. Place a layer of lasagna noodles on top, followed by 1/3 of the white sauce, half of the remaining meat sauce, 1/3 of the Mexican cheese blend, and 1/3 of the Parmesan cheese. Repeat these layers once more, then add another layer of lasagna noodles, the remaining white sauce, Mexican cheese blend, and Parmesan cheese. Pour water around the dish edges, cover with foil, and bake.
  • Place in the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake until the cheeses are melted, around 10 minutes more. Allow the lasagna to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
