Quick and cheesy oven-baked chicken cordon bleu ready in under an hour.
Ingredients:
  • cooking spray
  • 6 boneless, skinless chicken breast cutlets
  • 6 thin slices deli ham
  • 2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese, divided
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1.25 cups bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 0.5 cup chicken broth
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously coat a 9x13-inch baking pan with cooking spray.
  • Arrange 3 cutlets in the pan, season with salt and pepper, then layer with ham slices and Cheddar cheese. Top with the remaining 3 cutlets and evenly sprinkle flour on top.
  • Mix the beaten egg and milk in a bowl, then drizzle the mixture over the chicken.
  • Mix oregano with breadcrumbs in a bowl, then generously coat chicken on all sides. Pour any leftover egg mixture over the chicken. Drizzle with melted butter, pour chicken broth around the edges, and finish off by sprinkling the remaining Cheddar cheese on top.
  • Bake the cutlets in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until they are no longer pink in the center and the juices run clear. Ensure they reach an internal temperature of at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
  • Preheat oven to broil setting. Cook until the top is crispy and golden brown, approximately 5 minutes.
