Decadent chocolate peppermint dessert that will leave your guests craving more!
Ingredients:
  • 1 package (1 lb) creme-filled chocolate sandwich cookies, crushed (about 3 cups)
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 1/2 gallon peppermint stick, party mint or mint chip ice cream, softened
  • 1 container (12 oz) frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 4 oz unsweetened baking chocolate, chopped
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/3 cup crushed peppermint candies or candy canes
Instructions:
  • Combine crushed cookies with decadent melted butter in a medium bowl until evenly mixed. Firmly press the luscious mixture onto the bottom of an ungreased 13x9-inch pan.
  • Combine the ice cream and 2 cups of whipped topping in a large bowl. Spread the mixture evenly over the cookie crust. Freeze for about 3 hours or until it sets.
  • In a 2-quart saucepan, melt 1/2 cup of butter and chocolate together over low heat, stirring constantly. Add sugar, then gradually mix in the milk. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat while stirring constantly. Cook and stir for 5 minutes until slightly thickened, then stir in the vanilla. Let cool completely for about 2 hours.
  • Drizzle 2 cups of rich chocolate sauce over the creamy ice cream, ensuring even distribution. Freeze for a minimum of 8 hours, but not exceeding 2 weeks. Remember to cover and store the rest of the decadent sauce in the refrigerator for later use.
  • Gently warm the reserved sauce. Slice into squares and top with sauce, whipped topping, and crushed candies before serving.
