Easy sausage roll maker vanilla slice recipe

Make delicious creamy pastries in a Kmart sausage roll maker for any occasion.
Ingredients:
  • 2 sheets frozen butter puff pastry, just thawed
  • 300ml thickened cream
  • 250ml (1 cup) milk
  • 100g packet vanilla instant pudding mix
  • Icing sugar, to dust
  • Strawberries, halved, to serve (optional)
Instructions:
  • Divide 1 sheet of pastry in half, then layer the halves for extra flakiness. Gently lay it over the sausage roll maker, close the lid, and cook for 12 minutes until beautifully golden. Transfer to a wire rack to cool, then do the same with the other pastry sheet.
  • In a large bowl, combine cream, milk, and pudding mix. Use electric beaters to whip for 2 minutes until slightly grainy. Chill in the fridge for at least 20 minutes.
  • Trim and separate pastry into sections using kitchen scissors. Using a small sharp knife, carefully split pastry into top and bottom pieces starting at a short end.
  • Mix the vanilla pudding mixture until velvety, then put it into a piping bag with a fluted nozzle. Pipe over half of the pastry pieces, add the pastry tops, dust with icing sugar, and enjoy with strawberries, if desired.
