Delicious breakfast casserole made with layers of bread, pork sausage, Cheddar cheese, and creamy egg custard.
Ingredients:
  • cooking spray
  • 1 pound pork sausage
  • 6 (1 ounce) slices bread, cubed
  • 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups milk
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon ground dry mustard
Instructions:
  • Prepare a 7x11-inch baking dish by gently greasing it with cooking spray; set it aside.
  • Preheat a big, deep skillet over medium-high heat. Brown and crumble sausage in the skillet for 5 to 7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  • In a baking dish, create delicious layers of bread cubes, cooked sausage, and cheese. In a medium bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, salt, and mustard until smooth. Pour this delectable mixture over the bread layers. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for 8 hours or overnight.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Allow the casserole to come to room temperature for at least 30 minutes while the oven preheats.
  • Bake casserole in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the casserole to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
