Slow-cooked pork shoulder with apples, onions, and cinnamon applesauce creates tender and flavorful sandwiches.
Ingredients:
  • 6 apples with peel, cored and cut into 8 wedges
  • 1 large red onion, roughly chopped
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon, or to taste
  • 7 pounds pork shoulder roast
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
  • 1 (24 ounce) jar cinnamon-flavored applesauce
Instructions:
  • Layer the apples and onion at the base of a slow cooker, then dust with a touch of 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon.
  • Season the pork roast generously with salt and pepper, then nestle it on top of the layer of apples and onions in the slow cooker. Drizzle the applesauce over the roast and sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon.
  • Slow cook the roast on the High setting for 8 hours. Serve the roast garnished with the sauce, apples, and onions.
