Indulgent Indian cardamom-flavored egg and milk dessert. Stir constantly to avoid burning. Customize with vanilla to balance the richness. A small serving is satisfying for your sweet cravings.
Ingredients:
  • 4 pods green cardamom
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 0.75 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon semolina
  • 0.5 cup dry milk powder
Instructions:
  • Crush the cardamom pods using the side of a knife. In a heavy bottom saucepan, combine the crushed cardamom pods, milk, egg, sugar, shortening, semolina, and dry milk powder. Whisk thoroughly, then cook over low heat, stirring occasionally until the eggs thicken. Keep cooking and stirring constantly until the mixture browns, and the shortening starts to separate, approximately an hour. Remove the cardamom pods and serve the hot dish.
