Traditional Italian focaccia recipe, yeast-free and easy to make with minimal ingredients, versatile for various toppings.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1.5 teaspoons crushed dried basil
  • 0.25 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) and generously grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • 1. Fill the electric mixer's bowl with water and fit it with a dough hook. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt, then add to the water. Mix on medium speed until a dough ball forms. (Alternatively, blend water, flour, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead until it comes together in a ball.)
  • Spread the sticky dough using oiled fingers in a greased baking pan to 1/2-inch thickness, ensuring no holes remain. Finish by rubbing the top and sides with olive oil and seasoning with cayenne, garlic salt, and basil.
  • After baking for 20 minutes, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and bake for an additional 5 minutes until golden.
