Ingredients:
  • 2 boxes Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Yellow Cake Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix boxes
  • 3 tubs (12 oz) Betty Crocker™ Whipped Fluffy White Frosting
  • Neon pink gel food color from 1 box Betty Crocker™ Neon Gel Food Color
  • 1 doll pick
  • Betty Crocker™ Pink Sugar Sprinkles
  • Edible pearls
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 325°F. Grease a 1 1/2-quart ovenproof bowl that is 7 1/2 inches across the top, along with two 8-inch round cake pans, using shortening and flour (avoid using cooking spray).
  • Prepare the cake batter in a large bowl following the instructions on the boxes. Pour 4 cups of batter into a 1 1/2-quart bowl, and divide the rest of the batter evenly between the two round cake pans (about 2 cups per pan).
  • Bake cake pans for 30 to 35 minutes and bowl for 59 to 63 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let them cool for 10 minutes, then remove cakes from pans and bowl. Cool completely for about 2 hours before leveling off the rounded tops of the cakes.
  • Transfer the frosting into a spacious bowl, then swirl in the food color until achieving the perfect pink hue. Begin assembling the cake by positioning one 8-inch cake on a serving plate and coating the top with 1/3 cup of frosting. Add the second 8-inch cake layer and frost it with another 1/3 cup of frosting. Finish by placing the rounded bowl-shaped cake layer on top, cut side down. If needed, trim the sides of the cake to create a tapered "skirt."
  • Spread a delicate layer of frosting over the side and top of the layered cake to lock in the crumbs. Place the cake in the freezer for 30 to 45 minutes to allow the frosting to set.
  • Frost cake to your liking. Wrap doll pick's hair with plastic wrap and place in the center of the cake. Decorate with frosting, sprinkles, and candy pearls. Remove plastic wrap from hair. Cover cake loosely and store.
