Fig and spice nut bars for a cozy snack.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 0.875 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.125 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 2 cups chopped dried figs
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar for rolling
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a cozy 325 degrees F (165 degrees C), then prepare your 9x13 inch baking pan by greasing and flouring it.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together eggs and sugar until they are thick and pale. Sift in flour, baking powder, salt, cloves, cinnamon, and allspice. Add vanilla and mix well. Gently stir in chopped figs and walnuts. Transfer the batter to the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes until lightly toasted. Allow to cool, then cut into squares and coat with confectioners' sugar.
