Delicious Mexican orange flan with zesty orange flavor, simple to make, and loved by all!
Ingredients:
  • 4 tablespoons white sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon water
  • 5 large egg yolks, lightly beaten
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 (14 ounce) can evaporated milk
  • 4 tablespoons fresh orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange zest
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C) and prepare a water bath by filling a baking dish halfway with hot water.
  • In a heavy-based saucepan over medium-low heat, melt sugar and water until a golden-brown caramel syrup forms, swirling constantly for about 10 minutes. Be cautious as sugar can burn quickly. Pour the caramel into a shallow baking dish, tilting gently to evenly coat the bottom.
  • Combine egg yolks, condensed milk, evaporated milk, orange juice, and orange zest in a large oven-safe bowl. Carefully pour the custard over the caramel in the baking dish. Optionally, cover the flan with foil to prevent a skin from forming on top.
  • Place the bowl in a water bath and bake in the preheated oven until the flan is set but still slightly jiggly, for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Let the flan cool to room temperature, remove the foil, and refrigerate for about 2 hours until chilled.
  • Use a knife to loosen the flan from the dish, then gently flip it onto a serving plate to release the custard and let the caramel sauce flow over the flan.
