French apple cake: Loads of apples held together with a touch of batter, perfectly sweetened.
Ingredients:
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 0.75 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons rum
  • 0.75 stick butter, softened, divided
  • 0.75 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 teaspoon baking powder
  • 4 cups chopped peeled apples, or more taste
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and butter a 9-inch springform pan.
  • In a bowl, whisk together sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth using an electric mixer. Stir in the rum followed by half of the butter.
  • In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Add half of the flour mixture to the eggs; mix well. Incorporate the rest of the flour and butter. Gently fold in the apples.
  • Transfer the batter into the pan and delicately flatten the surface.
  • Bake in the oven until the top turns golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, for about 50 to 60 minutes.
