Elevate French toast with Easter-themed hot cross bun sticks, coated in cinnamon and sugar.
Ingredients:
  • 80ml milk
  • 4 Hot Cross Buns, day-old
  • 2 Free Range Eggs, lightly whisked
  • 40.40 gm thickened cream
  • 20.00 gm caster sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla bean paste
  • 40.00 gm caster sugar, extra
  • 1.25 gm ground cinnamon
Instructions:
  • Slice each bun with a small serrated knife into 1.5cm-wide batons.
  • In a spacious bowl, vigorously combine the egg, milk, cream, sugar, and vanilla using a whisk.
  • In a large frying pan over medium heat, melt half of the butter. Gently coat half of the bun batons in the egg mixture and let them soak for 1 min. Cook in the hot pan for 30 secs-1 min per side until golden brown and heated through. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towel. Repeat the process with the remaining butter, bun batons, and egg mixture.
  • In a small bowl, mix the extra sugar and cinnamon. Evenly sprinkle the cinnamon sugar over the warm bun fingers. Serve right away.
