Upgrade your breakfast with Betty Crocker's quick and delicious French toast topped with spiced applesauce from a cozy kitchen in just 25 minutes.
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon grated gingerroot or 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 cup natural applesauce
  • 1/4 cup sugar-free maple-flavored syrup
  • 2 eggs plus 1 egg white or 3/4 cup fat-free cholesterol egg product
  • 3/4 cup fat-free (skim) milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 slices sandwich bread
Instructions:
  • Combine fresh gingerroot, smooth applesauce, and sweet syrup in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on Medium (50%) for about 1 minute until deliciously warm. Keep it aside for later use.
  • In a small bowl, vigorously whisk together the eggs, egg white, milk, vanilla, and salt until thoroughly combined; then transfer the mixture into a shallow bowl.
  • Prepare your griddle or 10-inch skillet with a light coating of cooking spray and preheat it to 375°F or heat the skillet over medium heat. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are well coated. Cook for approximately 2 minutes on each side or until beautifully golden brown. Enjoy with a side of applesauce mixture.
