Moist clove-spiced fig cookies with walnuts that are irresistibly delicious!
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup butter-flavored shortening (such as Crisco®)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1.25 teaspoons ground cloves
  • 2.5 cups chopped fresh figs
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and lightly grease a cookie sheet.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine sugar, shortening, and vanilla until creamy. Gradually add eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
  • Combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, cloves, and salt. Blend into wet ingredients until combined; the mixture may appear slightly dry. Fold in figs and walnuts for added moisture. Use a medium cookie scoop to place spoonfuls of batter on the prepared cookie sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 13 minutes until edges are golden. Let cool on the baking sheet for 1 minute, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Repeat with remaining batches.
