Easy fig and walnut cookies, perfect balance of sweetness, ideal for summer snacking.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup chopped fresh figs
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C) and grease the baking sheets.
  • In a large mixing bowl, use an electric beater to whip together the sugar and butter until they are light in color, then mix in the beaten egg.
  • Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cloves in a bowl. Mix these into the butter mixture. Gently fold in the figs and walnuts.
  • Spoon dollops of dough 2 inches apart on baking sheets. Bake until edges turn golden, for approximately 15 to 20 minutes in the preheated oven.
