Experience the ultimate fresh tuna tacos with a kick of fresh hot sauce. Elevate taco night with this easy and delicious recipe featuring onions, peppers, and lettuce.
Ingredients:
  • 1 medium tomato, finely chopped (3/4 cup)
  • 5 medium green onions, sliced (1/3 cup)
  • 1 medium jalapeño chile, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 pound yellowfin tuna or other lean fish steaks, about 3/4 inch thick
  • 8 fat-free flour tortillas (8 inch), warmed
  • 1/4 small head lettuce, shredded (3/4 cup)
  • 1 small red bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped (1/2 cup)
Instructions:
  • Combine all the ingredients for the Spicy Fresh Chile Sauce in a medium bowl and let it sit for a bit.
  • Preheat the oven to broil. Grease the broiler pan rack with cooking spray. Spread lime juice over the fish steaks and then place them on the rack in the broiler pan.
  • Place the dish in the broiler approximately 4 inches away from the heat source for 5 minutes. Flip the dish over and continue to broil for an additional 5 to 8 minutes until the fish can be easily flaked with a fork.
  • Flake or cube the fish. Fill each tortilla with a generous 1/2 cup of fish. Add lettuce, bell pepper, and onion. Serve with chile sauce.
