Family favorite fried cabbage with bacon, served with homemade cornbread. Make plenty to avoid running out!
Ingredients:
  • 5 thick bacon strips, cut into small pieces
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced, or more to taste
  • 1 medium head cabbage, shredded or chopped
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 pinch white sugar
  • salt to taste
  • ground black pepper to taste
Instructions:
  • Fry bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp, approximately 5 minutes. Set the bacon aside. Saute onion and garlic in the remaining bacon grease until onion is soft and translucent, around 5 minutes. Add cabbage, paprika, sugar, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Combine the crispy bacon with the cabbage in the skillet. Let it simmer gently until the cabbage is perfectly tender, about 20 to 30 minutes. Serve hot or warm.
