Make crispy fried bread with 4-ingredient dough. Delicious with jam or honey!
Ingredients:
  • 4 cups shortening for frying
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1.5 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
Instructions:
  • In a heavy saucepan, bring the shortening to a temperature of 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a spacious bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add warm water to the mixture and knead until the dough is soft and smooth, without being sticky.
  • Form the dough into twelve 3-inch diameter balls, then flatten them into 1/2-inch-thick patties with a small hole in the center of each.
  • Fry each piece individually in 1-inch of hot shortening until golden brown on each side, about 1 to 2 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
