Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 2.25 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups water
  • 0.5 cup butter, melted
  • 0.25 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
Instructions:
  • In a very large mixing bowl, mix 1/2 cup warm water with 1 teaspoon sugar. Add yeast and wait until it softens and forms a creamy foam, approximately 10 minutes.
  • Combine flour, 2 cups of water, melted butter, and salt into the yeast mixture. Mix until smooth. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 8 hours to overnight, allowing the dough to rise significantly.
  • Mix in 1/4 cup of sugar, vanilla, and baking soda into the batter until it's silky smooth for delicious waffles.
  • Preheat the waffle iron following the manufacturer's instructions and lightly grease the hot iron.
  • Pour approximately 1/4 cup of batter onto the waffle iron for each waffle. Cook until waffles are golden brown and the iron stops steaming, which should take 5 to 10 minutes.
