Quick and crispy Chinese broccoli side dish, ready in 15 minutes!
Ingredients:
  • 2 bunches gai laan, washed (see note)
  • 24.00 gm white miso paste
  • 42.00 gm sweet soy sauce
  • 40.00 ml mirin
  • 5.00 gm caster sugar
  • 1/4 tsp sesame oil
  • 12.00 gm sesame seeds, toasted
Instructions:
  • Prepare the gai lan by separating the stems from the leaves and cutting the stems in half. Steam the stems over simmering water for 3 to 4 minutes until tender. Then add the leaves and steam for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until wilted. Transfer to a serving bowl and enjoy!
  • In a small saucepan over low heat, whisk together miso paste, sweet soy sauce, mirin, sugar, sesame oil, and 1 tablespoon cold water until smooth and heated through, about 3 to 5 minutes. Drizzle over gai lan, and sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.
