Indulge in this decadent and satisfying dish straight from the oven for a delightful experience of self-serving.
Ingredients:
  • Melted margarine or butter, for greasing
  • 1.5kg Pontiac or Desiree potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced (about 4mm thick)
  • 300mls thickened cream
  • 4 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • Salt & ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 200°C.
  • Coat a 1.5 litre (6 cup) ovenproof dish with the luscious melted butter or margarine.
  • Layer potato slices in the greased dish, overlapping slightly. Mix cream and garlic in a jug, then pour 1/4 of the garlic cream evenly over the potatoes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Continue layering the remaining potatoes and luscious garlic cream mixture, gently pressing down after each layer of potato to ensure a perfectly harmonious blend of flavors. Don't forget to sprinkle a touch of seasoning between every layer to elevate the taste even more.
  • Cover the dish with foil and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 45 minutes. Uncover, lower oven temperature to 180°C, and continue baking for 15 minutes until potatoes are golden and tender when pierced with a skewer.
