Classic ham and leek potato gratin, a must-have side dish for any roast dinner.
Ingredients:
  • 8 brushed potatoes, washed, thinly sliced
  • 100g thickly sliced ham, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • 1 brown onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 leek, pale section only, thinly sliced
  • 20.00 ml thyme sprigs
  • 120g cheddar cheese
  • 125ml thickened cream
  • 80g sour cream
  • 60ml chicken stock
Instructions:
  • 1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease a 6-cup (1.5L) ovenproof dish. 2. Layer one-third of the potatoes in the dish. 3. Arrange half of the ham, garlic, onion, leek, and thyme on top. 4. Sprinkle with one-third of the cheddar cheese. 5. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients, finishing with potatoes and cheddar cheese on top.
  • Mix together the cream, sour cream, and stock in a jug, and season it. Gently pour this creamy mixture over the potato dish in the pan.
  • Bake for 1 hour or until the sauce has thickened and the potato is golden brown and tender.
  • Allow the potato gratin to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
