Elevate your Christmas truffles by presenting them on a decadent chocolate slice for a stunning dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 335g plain chocolate biscuits
  • 125g butter, melted
  • 600g dark cooking chocolate, chopped, plus 400g, extra, melted
  • 400ml thickened cream
  • 500g cream cheese, at room temperature, chopped
  • Cocoa powder, to dust
Instructions:
  • Place a sheet of baking paper in a 20 x 30cm slice pan, ensuring the paper extends over the edges of the pan.
  • Take the biscuits, butter, and process them in a food processor until you get fine crumbs. Transfer the mixture to the pan and use a glass to firmly press it onto the base and sides. Chill in the fridge covered with plastic wrap.
  • Place your chopped chocolate in a large heatproof bowl. Heat the cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until almost simmering. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and stir until smooth. Pour the mixture over the base in the prepared pan, cover, and refrigerate for 3 hours until firm.
  • Beat the cream cheese with electric beaters until smooth in a bowl. Blend in the extra melted chocolate until well combined. Chill the mixture in the fridge for 2 hours or until firm.
  • Prepare baking trays with parchment paper. Place cocoa in a shallow bowl. Shape 2 teaspoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture into balls, then roll them in cocoa. Place them on the prepared trays. Repeat until you have 54 balls. Chill in the fridge for 30 minutes to slightly firm.
  • Take the slice out of the fridge 30 minutes before serving. Trim the short ends to tidy up right before serving, then sprinkle with truffles and cut into small portions.
