Make gluten-free mozzarella sticks by coating them in rice flour, eggs, and seasoned bread crumbs for extra crispiness.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (8 ounce) package low-moisture mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup superfine white rice flour
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 cup gluten-free bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.125 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.125 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 0.25 cup olive oil
Instructions:
  • Cut mozzarella cheese into long sticks measuring 4x1 inches.
  • First, spread the rice flour in one dish. Next, combine the egg whites and egg in a separate dish. Then, mix the bread crumbs with oregano, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and turmeric in a third dish.
  • Coat the mozzarella stick in rice flour, making sure to cover all sides. Shake off excess flour, then dip in the egg mixture, ensuring it is fully coated. Repeat with rice flour and eggs. Roll in bread crumbs, then dip in eggs and coat with bread crumbs again, ensuring the ends are well covered. Place on a freezer-safe plate and repeat for each mozzarella stick.
  • Wrap the plate of mozzarella sticks in plastic wrap and chill in the freezer for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Prepare an oil sprayer with olive oil. Take the sticks out of the freezer and place them on the baking sheet. Lightly spray the tops with olive oil.
  • Place in the preheated oven for 5 minutes, then switch sides and spritz with oil. Bake for an additional 5 minutes, repeating this process for the remaining two sides for a total of about 10 more minutes.
