Chuck steak rubbed with special spices, baked with veggies until tender in the comforting Smothered Steak recipe. Delightful!
Ingredients:
  • 2 onions, diced
  • 1 tablespoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon garlic salt
  • 1.5 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
  • 1.5 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons powdered honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 pounds beef chuck steak
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 yellow bell peppers, diced
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 0.5 cup water
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Mix together sea salt, garlic salt, black pepper, brown sugar, powdered honey, cayenne pepper, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl to create a flavorful spice rub.
  • Season the steak on all sides with 2 tablespoons of the spice rub.
  • In a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat, heat oil. Saute onions until translucent, about 3 minutes. Add bell peppers and mushrooms; cook until tender, about 3 minutes.
  • Create an opening in the middle of the skillet and place the seasoned steak. Sear until the steak's surface develops a golden crust, about 3 to 4 minutes. Carefully turn the steak over, then add water to the skillet and seal with foil.
  • Place the skillet in the preheated oven and roast until the steak is fork-tender, which takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
