Greek-inspired beef gyro burgers in pita bread, a tasty twist on the classic hamburger, perfect for a quick and delicious grill!
Ingredients:
  • 1 lb lean (at least 90%) ground beef
  • 1/2 cup crumbled herb-flavored feta cheese (2 oz)
  • 1/4 cup chopped kalamata olives
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano leaves
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh mint leaves
  • 4 pita (pocket) breads (6 inch), cut in half to form pockets
  • 1/2 medium cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 4 thin slices red onion, cut in half
  • 1 medium tomato, sliced
  • 1/4 cup Greek Fat Free plain yogurt
Instructions:
  • Preheat gas or charcoal grill. Combine beef, cheese, olives, oregano, and mint in a large bowl. Form 4 patties, each about 1/2 inch thick.
  • Grill the patties over medium heat with the grill covered for 10 to 12 minutes, flipping once, until a meat thermometer in the center reads 160°F.
  • Halve the burgers and stuff each pita pocket with a burger half, cucumber slices, onion slices, and tomato slices. Finish by drizzling with yogurt.
