Buttery thyme-infused green beans with toasted almonds, a simple and delicious holiday side dish.
Ingredients:
  • 2 pounds (fresh or frozen) green beans, trimmed
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1/3 cup slivered almonds, lightly toasted
Instructions:
  • Cook the green beans in a large pot of boiling salted water until just crisp-tender, around 5 minutes.
  • Cool the green beans in ice water: Transfer the drained beans to a large bowl of ice water to shock them into a vibrant green color. Ensure they are completely cooled. Drain the beans well and proceed with your recipe.
  • In a large, heavy skillet over medium-high heat, melt butter. Stir in half of the fresh thyme (1 Tbsp), Dijon mustard, and garlic salt until combined. Add beans and sauté for about 4 minutes until heated through. Transfer to a serving bowl.
  • Top with crunchy toasted almonds and the last bit of fragrant thyme leaves.
